High School Bible Class

Today we went to the high school bible class, to observe what they do. When we went, they were starting to review for their high school final... they had notecards in which they could write hints for themselves for the test. Before they started to do that, they recited a memory verse - sixteen verses long. Some of the 8th graders had questions about their future bible class, like how much did we have to practice and what we had to do and stuff. They didn't have to practice at home much because they preacticed every class that they had with Mrs. Herring.

Old Ford Factory & Bukit Timah

The Middle School is going on 3 field trips on the days of June 1- June 3. One of the places we are visiting is the Old Ford Facotry and Bukit Timah. Here is just a brief about it:
First you go through the route that the British took on the day that they surrendered. We get to see the rare photos and maps from that time.
After that, we go to this place in Bukit Timah to just play and stuff.
The End. :]

Believer

I believe in God
He Loves me so
I know that He will always love me
And He will keep me close.

I believe He came down as a baby
Born of the virgin Mary
He came to save the world
From the sin that holds

I believe He died for me
And for all of the world
He is now sitting at the right hand
And watches me close

My Best Friend

My Best Friend is awesome. She and I have shared a lot of things together. We share all our secrets and we never hold back from each other. We act the same with each other and we can be ourselves with each other. We are best friends, and I am sad to have to leave her. =(

Osama Bin Laden

The death of Osama Bin Laden is very big news. Everybody was shocked to hear that the leader of the Muslim Group died because of the US Military. I think that the US did a good job in capturing him, even though they needed help. I don't know what to think about his death. He was a bad man.

Small Groups/ Father's Day

Small Groups:
what was your experience in your small groups?
We had fun at times. The leaders were good and really encouraging. They taught us a lot.

There should be more games and there should be a good place to sit in.

Father's Day:
How and when can you plan this with your mom or family?
We can plan it before and make him card or something.
What are you planning to do for Father's Day?
I think I will spend time with my dad.
When is Father's Day?
It is on June 19

Mother's Day

we didn't do anything for mother's day... we were suppose to go out, but then i had a church thing to go to... we tried to do dinner, but then it was too late.
i dont think we will do anything for father's day, cuz my dad isnt even in singapore.

7-11 Party

I was in student council so i didnt get to "enjoy" the 7-11 party. But I did have fun leading the games. I got to play spoons with Austin and the chaperons there were miss den hartog and miss cantrell. then there was free time and i guess that was relaxing. Then i didnt get to play the last game, cuz i had to start cleaning up.
i was on student council, and the things that we had to do was set up the canteen and everywhere else. then we had to lead people to different places and finally, we had to wait until everybody was off campus.

Experience this Year

I think there are a lot that i have had this year. I think my greatest experience was playing on the basketball team and being on the student council team. I think the greatest one in basketball was when our team played a school called SAS. We came so close to beating a team that had been going undefeated their whole season. I think that was the most intense game. That game, we had one last chance of beating them, or at least having the same score. I got two free throw shoots after the game for being fouled, but I missed both. I was CRUSHED. But it taught me to try harder and practice more.

Easter

How will you honor God at this most important day for Christianity?
My family and I usually go to church in the morning, both on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The Easter services are usually sunrise ones or the normal Sunday morning ones. Then we have a special Easter Day lunch. There was one year when my birthday, April 26, fell on Easter Sunday. My family and I celebrated a special Sunday with a lunch and a dinner.

How will you commemorate Easter?
I think I will wake up Sunday morning and go to church. Then maybe my mom will take my brother and me out for a special lunch, or we may have a special lunch at home.

What pagan symbols can you describe related to Easter?

  • Easter bunny

  • Easter egg

  • Easter egg hunt

  • Chocolates and candy

High School

High school is really important, especially since it determines your college career. And college determines your job. And you need a job, or else you will be a bum on the street. So high school is important to study and get good grades. But high school is also a time to have fun. Middle school we have fun a lot, but we think that high school is all about work and no play. But I think that you have to also have some fun. This is like the last chance to have fun before you have to be independent. Since I am going to a boarding school for high school, I think I will be experiencing independence from my parents earlier than my friends here in Singapore. I want to experience independence, which I will be. I don't know the impact I will have in my new school. Maybe I will become their star basketball player. Maybe everybody will ask me about the math homework (which people do already do!! UGH -.-). I hope that I do make an impact at my new school. I think my biggest challenge will be getting use to a new school and a new system, as well as copping with high school. It will be hard not living with my parents. I think I will miss them A LOT. They won't be there reminding me to study for my next algebra test, or to finish my homework. I hope that I will find a good friend who will help me in that. I will miss my friends here. I have grown to love them for whatever weird thing they do (ex weird noises! and tripping over weird metal things on the ground!ha, pheebs! =)). I will never forget all the moments we have had together, and moments to come.

High School Plans

Next year, I'm going into ninth grade - high school! But I will be leaving my friends! boo hoo. I will be going back to India. My dad's job has moved us back to India at a place called Goa. It has the best beaches in India. However, since there is no international school there, I will be living at a boarding school. It will be 2 hours away from my grandparents/aunt and uncle. I'm sure I will finish school in that school. I hope to accomplish leanring more. And I hope I will also be able to know what I want to do when I graduate.

Actors in Upcoming Play/ Spring Break

So there is an upcoming play- this Friday, in fact. The actors in the play are mostly high schoolers, but there are a few middle schoolers who are in the play. I don't know who is in the play, because they haven't posted the actors/backstage/ect people. Well, my spring break was actually pretty fun. It was the most productive spring break i have EVER had. On Monday, my mom and i went on an impromptu shopping trip. I suggested going, and my mom was like "Sure, why not?". I bought like 5 new t-shirts and two eyeliners. Then I had two of my friends over on Wednesday. They came at 11 am, and i was like running around, cuz i wasn't ready for them... they were early. but it was fun. We like played ultimate ninja A LOT and its SO FUN!! ahaha. We played truth or dare, i got this really daring dare, but i shall NOT inclose those detail. Then Saturday, I had another friend over and we hung out till 5pm. Oh, and then on Thursday and Friday, one of the bathrooms in my house got flooded. It was really gross.

Spring Break

This spring break I am... doing NOTHING! I may just sit around at home, watching tv or being on the computer. Maybe, I will go out for lunch and dinner with my mom. Maybe I will hang out with my friends. I don't really know what I will do. Maybe I will read a couple of books. Since one of my friend's aunt is coming, I may have her over.

I would want to go shopping EVERYDAY... that would be so AWSOME!

MATH TEST!!! UGH!!!!

Oh my gosh, last period, I took my Algebra test, about Quadratic Formulas and such. I am taking Algebra because I am in the supposed "smart class" or the class that can handle higher level maths. AND I HATE IT!! I miss when y=mx+b was the hardest thing ever. Compare to this, I LOVED THAT!!! I think i did horrible on the test. I took a long time to to take my test. The last question, which was a story problem, i think i did bad on that. For those of you who want to know, the equations are as follows:
- y=axsquared + bx + c
- h= -16tsquared + vt + s
oh and the quadratic formaula! x= -b + or - the square root of b squared minus four ac all over 2a

Last Weekend

On Friday, I went to my friend's house and we made a bunch of videos... we tried to do a music video, but we aren't like pros so we couldn't make it right. So then we went upstairs and we set up a video camera and just recorded us doing weird stuff. It was really funny. We just cracked up and stuff... I had a really good time with them. Then on Saturday, I just sat at home and watched CSI the whole day... my mother wasn't home all day, cuz she had this week without walls thing. I did some homework. Sunday was church, and I played captain's ball with my friends at church. It was fun, cuz i was taller than most of them, so yeah, i could catch the ball without them intercepting it!

What I Want to be When I Grow Up

When I grow up, I have two paths I want to go through. I either want to be a lawyer or fashion stylist/ designer. Beign a lawyer would be more of my realistic job. But who knows? Maybe I will become a stylist. My "dream-come-true" would be to work with either the stars in coordinating their outfits or to work with designers in coordinating their clothes for fashion shows or even to have my creations at Fashion Week. I have always loved clothes and fashion. I think that though clothes are meaningless, they help give a first impression to other people as well as it gets you good jobs. The way you wear white pants affects how other look at you, whether you pair it off with a jersey or a fitted top. I would love to create something or a line that had something for everybody.

Jeannie Mai, a well known fashion stylist who has her very own show called "How Do I LooK?" in which she helps people change the way they dress, is a very sucessful stylist.

Roberto Cavalli, an Italian designer, is a very sucessful desgner who gets featured in many fashion weeks. His self-entitled brands such as Just Cavalli are very sucessful and is considered a branded brand.

High School Bible Class

Today, we went to visit the High School Bible Class. When we came in, they were talking about how to write a good essay, such as good transitions, and not to have things repeating. Then they recited a Bible verse that they had to memorize. They had a way to memorize it- they got into groups and they each got a verse, and then they made actions to help them remember. After that, they went over a homework/ daily Bible Homework. It was cool to see them.

Favorite Story Character

My favorite story character comes from the book Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. The main character's name is Annabel Green, who is a tv commercial and advertisement model. She seems to have it all in her commercials. However, its far from "perfect". Her so called friends are mean to her, because of one dramatic night which put her as the evil, boyfriend stealer. Her sister Whitney had moved back with her parents, because she was suffereing from an eating disorder. But then, her life changes as she meets Owen Armstrong, an anger-management student who is obsessed with music. He is somebody who tells the truth all the time, no matter what. This motivates Annabel to do the same. Both of them start hanging out and bonding which leads her to face her fears, and to speak the truth. This helps her mend her other friendships. The book is not a Christian book, but I think it teaches us a lot.

Pictures From Senegal

This is a picture of the Flag

This is a picture of a resort

Here is one of the beaches, as Senegal is near a sea.

Favorite Place That I've Lived In

One of the most interesting places I've lived in is Senegal. It is located in West Africa. Most people don't really know where that is. In fact, before moving there, I didn't eve know what it was. Then, when I got there, all the people were really nice. As you walk down the street, the people there will greet you and ask how your day is going. As a result of that, I knew a lot of people that lived in my building or even on my road. Here in Singapore, the people only greet people they know personally, and they don't talk to other people, or at least even greet them.

I lived in the capital , Dakar. There wasn't much to do in the city, because there weren't even any malls. But you could drive out of the city for a day, and have fun in neighboring cities and countries even. I remeber going to Gambia, a neighboring country. It was quite fun.

Now, in Senegal, there is a mall. Some of my old friends have told me about it. It is not like in Singapore, which has a lot of malls. There isn't even a public service to it, like in Singapore. But it is a nice place, and I really miss it. I love Singapore, but sometimes, I wish I was back in Senegal.

Filipino History Lesson

Today, we went to the high school history class, taught by Mr. Smith. Today, they were talking about when the Philippines got free from Spain, but got taken by America. The Filippinos did not want this, so they fought with the Americans. Their style of fighting was guerrilla warefare, not really having an organized amry. Filippinos could not use real weapons, because their oppressors would not allow them to. Their style was Arnis, which had to be taught quickly, unlike other styles like Kung Fu or such. So, today, the students got to experience this fighting style. They got to "stickes" to use. They were lined up on the basketball court, ready to fight. Mr. Smith was talking about how to fight properly, such as how to hold it, how to strike, or how to twist it around.
I really thought it was cool to watch them try it out. I learned something new about Filippino history. In my history class, we are studying US history. I think its cool to learn about different things in History from different nations, so that we know and understand other peoples culture as well as how their mind is set up, because I'm sure it's different from my own, partly because of where I'm from.

Frogs by Aristophanes

For computer class, we read a little about the play "The Frogs" by Aristophanes. The story begins when there is a disturbance in the Underworld as as Euripides tried to take the Tragedian Chair from Aeschylus. Pluto (Hades, lord of the Underworld) does not like the bickering, so he sent for Dionysus, the god of Drama and wine, to judge which of the poets (Euripides or Aeschylus) is better. Dionysus also wants to bring one of these poets back to life, as he thinks that the Dramatic Arts in Athens is bad.
Dionysus and his servant Xanthias set off to the Underworld, Dionysus dressed in a lion-skin cape, to make himself look like his cousin Hercules. As the duo make their way into the Underworld, they meet many people, including Hercules. They cross the River Styx and finally make their way through the gates.
The next scene is when Dionysus is judging the two poets' poetry. Dionysus enjoys himself as the two poets "battle" it out to see who's the better poet. Finally, Pluto (Hades) commands Dionysus to choose one of the poets. He chooses Aeschylus, and Euripides, who Dionysus said would bring back, is devestated. The play ends as the men make their way out of the Underworld and into the bright world outside.
